About The Materials
Granite is an igneous rock formed when volcanic lava cools beneath the earth’s surface. The internal cooling creates a course or medium-grained texture rich in quartz and feldspar. Granite is extremely resilient and requires no maintenance making it the ideal material for garden and park benches.
About The Design
Elegant, timeless, simple and rustic are all words that would appropriately describe this bench. By hand selecting and collecting the granite boulders from fields and mountains then matching them up, the resulting Curved Granite Boulder Bench obtains a great design with perfect proportions just as Mother Nature intended. The top and bottom of the boulders used for the leg pieces are sawn level and the side surfaces are left natural. The bench seat features a polished top with either natural or chiseled features. Because of the high degree of variation in size and shape of boulders used to make this bench the weight will vary from 400-600 pounds. The Curved Granite Boulder Bench can be set up with the help of a 2 wheel dolly, wheelbarrow or a friend or neighbor.
About The Finish
The Polished Finish process includes 7 steps of polishing the stone with progressively finer grit polishing pads after the stone is worked with saws, chisels and grinders. The end result is a finish that is as smooth as glass and beautifully reflective. The polished finish on the seat of our Curved Granite Boulder Bench compliments the chiseled edges for an overall completed look of natural elegance.
The Chiseled edges are created by breaking the stone with a hammer and chisel. This process provides a very rough surface or a slightly irregular finish. The chiseled finish adds to the natural look of the Curved Granite Boulder Bench.
