The Vanguard lockers have been the industry standard for rugged, dependable design for decades. The Vanguard Two Person lockers are available in a wide variety of configurations and sizes, and are among the
quietest on the market. This space saving model features large doors with louvers, upper compartments, die cast handles, and a powder coat baked enamel finish, they
withstand the daily use and abuse typically given to a locker.
About the Materials and Finish
All locker body parts and shelves are made from prime grade 24 gauge mild cold rolled sheet steel free from surface imperfection, and capable of taking a high grade enamel finish. Doors 30" or higher are formed from one piece 16 gauge while doors less than 12" wide are 18 gauge. The powder coat baked enamel finish is electro-statically applied and available in 21 Colors. All locker body parts are finished in the same color.
About the Vanguard Locker Construction
Built on the unit principle - each locker has an individual door and frame, top, bottom, back, hooks and shelves with common intermediate uprights separating compartments. The welded door frames have mortise and tenon construction and are spot welded for lifetime rigidity. Features include:
- Two side by side lockers in right hand and left hand configuration
- Two full width book compartment doors access by hidden door release
- Has ample room for two people while occupying about the same space as a single tier locker
- Latch clips engage the door frame at three points on doors over 42" high and two points on all other doors
- Special nylon glides fastened to the latch channel assembly and rubber silencers minimize noise
- Patented die-cast handle that accepts built-in locks or padlocks
- Handle opens with a single motion pull, and closes easily while the spring loaded latch clips secure the door even if locked
- Every door has a continuous door strike
- Two sets of standard ventilation louvers in side by side doors and one set for book compartments
- Doors have three hinges
- All Hinges are full loop, 5 knuckle design
- Full channel formations are on the lock and hinge sides of the door to conceal and protect the lock bar and hinges
- Right angle flanges are on the top and bottom.
- Standard 6” legs on standard lockers.
- Front legs are integrated into the door frame
- Rear legs are adjustable for leveling and anchoring
About the Additional Equipment
Each locker has a
polished aluminum number plate attached to the door, 2-1/4" wide x 1" high, with black numerals not less than 3/8" high. If the starting number is not specified, 1 will be the standard start. Two Person lockers also include the following:
- Three single-prong hooks and one double-prong ceiling hook
- Lockers 18” or deeper have a coat rod as well as coat hooks
- Coat hooks and coat rods are zinc plated

These Vanguard Standard Lockers have an overall height of either 66” or 78” including the standard 6” legs. The locker sizes available are:

About the Standard Options
Locker Handles: Penco has a recessed handle as an option to the standard Die Cast Handle. The Classic III Recessed Handle provides a pocket with enough depth to house combination padlocks, built in combination locks or key locks providing a flush door front.
Locker Legs: Each Penco Locker can be order without the standard 6” Legs for wall recess applications. Zee Bases in 4” and 6” heights are also available. They are made of 14 gauge steel with outward flange at top providing support to lockers and an inward flange on the bottom for floor anchoring.
Locker Ventilation: The doors can be order with no louvers to provide a flat finish to the front of the locker. Mini-Louvers are also available in a eight by eight pattern of 5/8” wide x Ľ” high inverted louvers. To provide more visibility and airflow, you may choose Visual Perforations which are 5/8”W x 1 1/8”H rectangular shape perforations. Side Round Perforations are also available for increased ventilation.
Locker Bases and Slope Tops: These accessories are designed to prevent the accumulation of dust and dirt under and on top of lockers making cleaning much easier. Front and end bases fit between or on the 6" legs giving the locker a clean flush appearance. Slope tops are often used instead of flat tops to discourage the use of locker tops as a storage areas. Each slope top kit contains 1 top, 1 back and 2 mitered ends.
Locking Options: There are two built-in lock options available as well as combination dial padlocks. All locks are master keyed to the same series. The Built-In Flat Key Locks come with two keys each and can be different key combinations or keyed alike if required. The Built-In Combination Locks have five combination changes for year to year security. The Combination Dial Padlocks have three changes and are rust resistant.
We also offer factory assembly for your lockers (adds 5 days to manufacturing time) and, because lockers should always be floor and wall anchored for safety purposes, a set of concrete anchors are also available.

Locks and logo signs; extra Locker Shelves; Fire Extinguisher or Waste Bin Doors; Dual Compartment Partitions; Plastic bottoms and, Stainless Steel Lock Strike Plates are all available in our Locker Accessories for the Penco Vanguard Lockers. We also offer fillers and continuous slope hood systems that can be used to cover columns, pipes or other obstacles in a row of lockers or fill the gap between the lockers and a wall. If your lockers are recessed into a wall, we have a trim system that will beautifully complete the installation. Benches and Coin Operated Lock systems are also available.
